Several hours before finishing NWB got a message that entering the harbour of Les Sables d’Olonne was very dangerous. It was a difficult decision but a wise one to divert to Lorient. Of course it is also a disappointment to get a DNF (Did Not Finish). Pieter was welcomed in Lorient by part of the shore crew, his wife and his oldest son. Even race officer Jacques Caraes came all the way to Lorient to welcome him! An SAR boat escorted NWB in because the engine was unreliable. Pieter experienced this trip very differently to the first one, as he found it easier to cope with the emotional, mental and physical aspects this time. Over the next couple of days the boat will be lifted out of the water and be completely checked at a wharf.
